New Works by Jamie Adams, Brett Douglas Davis, and Rob Katkowski

Modern Formations Gallery presents recent prints, drawings, and paintings that jointly discuss a renewed intimacy in the work of Jamie Adams, Brett Douglas Davis, and Rob Katkowski.

The works included in this show detail the artists’ reevaluations of their driving influences. Familiar working materials have been renegotiated in order to probe ongoing themes. Essentially, all three artists have reassessed previous boundaries in an attempt to pin down a more personal understanding of the fuel and fodder of their images and craft.

In the case of Jamie Adams the resulting images probe accountability, shame, and guilt in the contemporary male psyche. Brett Douglas Davis has resurfaced his figures from the overwhelming muddle of recent past compositions to examine human relationships and personal history. Finally, Rob Katkowski continues his exploration of undetectable spaces through a newly honed and poetic harmony of formal abstract elements.

To varying degrees the artists have turned the lens inward and submitted for the audience new pleas of consideration spanning a vast cross section of imagery.
